FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Dr. William Brown, Bay Area, CA Sports Hernia Specialist, Publishing Sports Hernia Newsletter
Dr. William Brown is publishing a newsletter to share the latest and most accurate information regarding sports hernias with SH News subscribers.
FREMONT, CA July 15, 2015. — Dr. William Brown recently began publishing an e-newsletter, SH News. The newsletter contains the most accurate and current information on sports hernias and their treatment. SH News is geared to both medical and athletic audiences. Those interested in subscribing can sign up to receive SH News on Dr. Brown’s website, SportsHernia.com.
The e-newsletter is only newsletter published that is focused singularly on sports hernia-related information. SH News subscribers receive periodic issues that contain relevant information about prevention, diagnosis, treatment options like open repair surgery, post-operative care, and rehabilitation and recovery programs.
“By the time a patient makes an appointment with me, it’s not uncommon that he or she has seen four or five other doctors. Sports hernias are often misdiagnosed as groin muscle strain and patients are advised to rest. Rest can cause the pain to subside, but pain returns once activity is resumed. It’s a very frustrating situation for athletes at both the professional and amateur levels,” explains Dr. Brown.
Though SH News is a new publication, it is well received and growing in popularity. The last issue published resulted in over 5% of the subscribers contacting Dr. Brown with questions regarding sports hernia symptoms and scheduling appointments. Less than than 0.5% requested to be unsubscribed, indicating demand for better information on sports hernias.
“Given the amount of misinformation available on sports hernias, I wanted a way to keep patients and athletes better informed,” says Dr. Brown. “Sports hernias can be diagnosed and repaired for a full recovery. The key in doing so is for the patient to receive an accurate diagnosis and undergo treatment sooner versus later.”

I live in Ontario and have recently been diagnosed with a sports hernia, both sides. I had an MRI which confirmed the sports hernia is the chronic constant pain I have been suffering for the last 2 years. Apparently there is no surgeon in Ontario that deals with sports hernia’s. Looking for any ideas or doctor’s names to help me out. Thanks Tammy
Dear Ms. Roth,
Your best chance to find a sports hernia surgeon is to contact your local professional hockey or soccer team and ask them who they use. The Shouldice Clinic may also be able to help you.
If you have more questions, please do not hesitate to contact me directly.

Bill Brown MD
