When to Repair a Hernia?

An inguinal hernia or a femoral hernia are only dangerous if your intestines become incarcerated (i.e. the intestines become trapped in the hernia).  On the other hand, the chance for incarceration is rare.  So, in most situations hernia repair can be delayed until you’re in optimal health or at a time most convenient for you.  Also, I advise repair before traveling to a third world country.
